What a sticky day

We have a porch!

The porch was poured today. It is exposed aggregate. We will seal it tomorrow.

Bring on the concrete!

Frames are up on the porch for the concrete. Yay!!!! On the down side – some goober thought it was a good idea to drive his truck over our lateral lines. I am sure there is going to be a showdown if they are broken.

A dry day – finally!

We had a beautiful day today. We were actually able to come and go from the driveway without slinging mud everywhere!
The trim carpenters were back today to install the garage door (that finally came in) and put doors on the window boxes in the living room.

Our window ledge guest

Our little robin is tending her nest diligently. She is easily frightened off of the nest, so we try not to walk in and out of the master bath very often. It should be interesting to watch them hatch and grow.

A paint fog

We have taped off all the hinges, handrails and windows prior to painting the trim. What a time-consuming job! If hindsight truly is 20/20, we are seeing clearly that with our time constraints hiring painters might have been a wise choice.

Caulking the trim

We have spent the last few days caulking the trim. What a pain! We are starting to develop a system though. Once we get the trim caulked, we can paint the trim then go for the second coat of paint throughout.

It is looking more and more like a home every day! The excitement is building but so is exhaustion.

catching up

It has been hard as of late to take a picture of anything that looks different! We have been painting primer for a couple weeks and all those white walls look the same. Clay has finished the breaker box and electric is hooked up to it.
