Halloween at the Zoo

We went to the Louisville Zoo for the Halloween festivities Saturday night.  We didn’t get many pictures because my phone doesn’t have a flash but Kayce was Sharpay from High School Musical and Caleb was some kind of skeleton character.
Workwise, we got the newly poured garage floor sealed.  Caleb helped me push the puddles of water to [...]

Garage floor is down

We had the garage floor poured this week.  It was a surprise to me that it looks bigger with the floor in there!
The porch has been prepped for concrete.  We watered it down to settle the dirt and then topped it up with gravel.
Clay and his buddy, Kelly, took the port-a-toilet down to the entrance [...]

A shot to the ribs

We worked on installing the can lights over the porch.  Poor Clay shoved himself up into the rafters and belly-crawled across the whole porch to wire them.  He has either bruised or cracked his ribs on one side in the process.

Late night in the basement

We ran the lights and recepticles in the basement.  Caleb was a trooper but eventually wore out.  He snuggled up in the camping chair in front of the halogen lights (for warmth) and went to sleep. We were hammering and drilling and it didn’t bother him at all.

Fall break ends

We are just about finished with wiring.  We ran out of wire before completing the final runs to the breaker box from the far end of the house.

mini vacation

We took the day off and went to Cincinnati to play.  There is an indoor water park called Great Wolf Lodge next door to King’s Island.  We always enjoy it.
Everyone is issued a wristband that is your room key and the adults can charge drinks and snacks to the room.  It is nice not to have to [...]

Half way there

The wiring has been a very large project.  The code is extensive to keep on top of.  Clay is doing a great job of staying in touch with the inspector, asking a lot of questions and following the guidelines he has received.  We should be in good shape.  We have about half of the house [...]

Gone Fishin’

This weekend starts our vacation.  We will be pushing intensely to finish the wiring this week. I am hopeful that we can make a dent in the plumbing as well.
I spent today fishing wire to recepticles. The most challenging wires to fish are around corners. We got some new code information during the course of this [...]
