Wired weekend

This weekend we installed the meter box and the breaker panel then put our focus on getting some of the circuits run.  It takes more thought than I suspected to run the wiring.  The circuit has to be complete and hit each box while still maintaining strict guidelines as to placement of holes, wires and staples.  There [...]

Clay’s new toy

Clay has been missing having a truck for some time and went to rectify that situation today.  He attended a State vehicle auction and came home with a 1996 Chevy Cheyenne 1 ton crew cab truck.  As excited as he is, you would think he had bought a new truck!

Road block

Saturday:
Clay and his HVAC guys finished up the rough-in of the heating and cooling lines.  The kids and I helped clean up after the guys left.  It was a very full day for Clay.
Sunday:
In preparation for running the copper wire, we decided to make it a bit more challenging to get to the house.  Clay installed [...]

Kayce’s 2nd Race

Today’s meet was in Frankfort.  There were fewer kids but the course was very challenging – long, steep hills to endure.  Kayce did great and finished 17th (2nd of her team).  The boys team earned enough points to win their category.  We were all so proud of them!

The last brick

The kids enjoyed the sand pile while Clay and I worked on the electrical boxes on Monday.  They took turns burying each other and tunneling to the center.  They were SO filthy when it was time to go!
Tuesday the brick layers finished up.  Overall we were pretty happy with the job they did.

yIKEs!

We had a lovely brush with hurricane Ike here in the Louisville area.  We were very fortnuate that we only lost power Sunday afternoon and the worst of our damage was the destruction of the satellite receiver.  (The company I work for just got power back on Friday!  We had to work from remote locations [...]

A little short

The brick layers got quite a bit accomplished on Thursday – until they ran out of brick.  We have a bit more on order but it won’t be in until Monday.  They might have had enough if they had used the half bricks more efficiently… but I am not a brick layer so maybe I [...]

Pick your battles

We discovered after the brick men got around the outset for the fireplace that the foundation in that spot is CROOKED!!!!  Nothing we can do about it now I guess.  The brick men did a really nice job of hiding it.  Eventually a deck will cover it anyway.
The guys got so much done today!  I am [...]

Hey! The brick guys!

The brick men have gotten 1/2 of the back done and the walkout side done.  If we can manage to keep them there all day every day this week, it might be done by the weekend.
Clay decided to play in the creek.  I think it was more “clubhouse” activity than a necessary project.  I was [...]

Poor Cinderellas

Clay set the kids to cleaning my car Sunday.  Little dirty foot prints on the backs of my seats, gravel and empty wrappers on the floor boards, sticky little hand prints on the windows…  He figured they would not appreciate keeping my car clean until it became work for them for it not to be clean.  Hope it [...]
